Good rigidity and strength: Although the absolute strength of aluminum alloy is lower than that of high-strength alloy steel, through reasonable structural design and optimized manufacturing process, aluminum alloy tool holders can have sufficient rigidity and strength to withstand machine tool processing. The cutting force and vibration during the process ensure the stable clamping of the tool and normal cutting.
Good corrosion resistance: Aluminum alloys easily form a dense oxide film in the air. This oxide film can prevent the internal aluminum alloy from being further oxidized, giving it good corrosion resistance. In the machine tool processing environment, it can resist the erosion of cutting fluids, lubricants and other chemical substances, extending the service life of the tool holder.

Relatively low hardness: Compared with some carbide or high-speed steel tool handles, the hardness of aluminum alloy is lower. During long-term use, the clamping part of the tool handle may be worn, affecting the clamping accuracy of the tool. and stability. Therefore, the tool holder needs to be inspected and maintained regularly, and replaced when necessary.
Poor high temperature performance: In high temperature environments, the strength and rigidity of aluminum alloys will decrease. In some cases where a large amount of heat is generated during high-speed cutting or machining, the aluminum alloy tool holder may not be able to maintain good performance and corresponding cooling measures need to be taken.
Structure type:
Side-fixed tool holder: suitable for clamping flat tool shanks such as quick drills, U drills, milling cutters, rough boring tools, etc. It has a simple structure and strong clamping force. The tool is placed into the tool handle, the flattened surface is aligned with the locking screw, and then the locking screw is tightened with a hexagonal wrench to fix the tool. However, the versatility is not good, and each type of tool handle can only be equipped with tools with the same handle diameter.
Spring chuck tool holder: mainly used for clamping straight-shank tools such as drill bits, milling cutters, taps, etc. The circlip has a certain amount of elastic deformation, usually the clamping range is between 0.5 - 32mm. This kind of tool handle is highly versatile and can be produced by all major tool manufacturers.
Hydraulic tool holder: It is a more advanced type of tool holder. Tightening only requires a pressurized bolt. When hydraulic oil pressure is generated in the bolt, the pressure is evenly transmitted to the steel expansion sleeve, and the expansion wall then compresses the tool. Its advantage is that the tool has high radial runout error accuracy and repeated positioning accuracy, which can be controlled below 3 μm; it can effectively prevent the vibration of the tool and machine tool, improve processing accuracy and quality; it has maintenance-free and anti-fouling functions, and the tool disassembly is simple convenient.
Powerful chuck tool holder: used for clamping straight-shank cutters and tools such as milling cutters and reamers. The clamping force is relatively large and the clamping accuracy is good. Tools with different shank diameters can be clamped by replacing different collets. However, during the machining process, the front end of the powerful tool holder has a larger diameter and is prone to interference.

In terms of accuracy: The manufacturing accuracy of aluminum alloy tool holders has an important impact on the processing accuracy.
