1. Material properties

• High-strength, high-hardness materials, such as certain alloy steels, titanium alloys, etc., require large cutting forces when cutting, the tools wear quickly, and are prone to vibration and cutting heat.

• Materials with good toughness and ductility are prone to produce built-up edges during the cutting process, which affects the surface quality and dimensional accuracy of the machining.

• Some materials have high thermal conductivity and poor thermal conductivity, causing cutting heat to be concentrated in the cutting area, affecting tool life and machining accuracy.

2. Complex shapes and high precision requirements

• Parts with non-circular cross-sections, complex contours, or strict dimensional tolerances and surface roughness requirements increase processing difficulty.

• Slender shaft parts are prone to bending and vibration during turning, which affects the machining accuracy.

3. Cutting conditions

• Improper selection of cutting speed, feed and depth of cut may result in rapid tool wear, poor machined surface quality or vibration marks.

• Improper selection of cutting fluid cannot effectively cool and lubricate the cutting area, affecting machining performance.

4. Equipment and tools

• The accuracy and rigidity of the machine tool are insufficient to ensure stable processing accuracy and surface quality.

• The material and geometry of the tool are improperly selected and cannot adapt to the characteristics of the material and parts being processed.

5. Clamping method

• Unreasonable clamping will cause deformation of parts and affect processing accuracy, especially for thin-walled parts and parts that are easily deformed.

6. Thermal deformation

• The large amount of heat generated during the cutting process can cause thermal deformation of parts and tools, thereby affecting dimensional accuracy and shape accuracy.

To sum up, the difficulty in processing turned parts is the result of a variety of factors. In actual processing, these factors need to be comprehensively considered and corresponding measures taken to improve the feasibility and quality of processing.
